Today we woke up to our first snow fall for this winter. About one inch of snow at this point, or maybe a little more. Not really a blizzard, but fun anyway. So far the power is still on, but the weather reports are calling for freezing rain for the rest of the day so it could be interesting later on.
This family blog continues the one originally started by Luke. It is hoped through the sharing of stories, ponderisms, and pictures of family and events, that this online journal will serve to enhance and nurture our relationship and draw us closer to God and each other as we travel along life's road. Buckle-up!

Snow Day!

Looks like a nice amount. I hope the girls had some fun in it. We are sick of snow. It seems like it has been snowing every other day here and it hasn't been melting either. We probably have 6-8 inches on the ground now and it is supposed to get down close to 10 below this weekend. That's before you figure in the wind chill. It's currently 15 degrees here.
rough.
Currently 0 degrees. will be 12 below tonight. It was hard to get the van started this morning.
We havn't had any snow to speak of so far this winter. I am disappointed! The snow in Lukes picture is more than we have had! We have had a couple of dustings but nothing that has stayed on the ground. It has been windy and cold here. Right now the temp is 25 and windy. Keep yourselves warm. I never let you kids go out to play with out several pairs of socks...remember?
I do remember. Claire's school was cancelled today because of the cold. The high yesterday was -4. It was -16 when I left for work this morning. The wind chill was in the 30 something below range. Sort of hard to breathe in those temperatures. Our snow is very hard now and you can walk right on top of it.
wow that kind of cold hurts like a burn if you're out just for a few minutes!
Luke, when we talked on the phone, Virginia was having stomach trouble. Is she alright now?
She's over it now. Thanks for asking.
Temp post...please ignore
??Ask?? - What do you think unsaved people are living for.
!!Think!!
Possessions/Money
Fame
Recognition/Achievements
Retirement/Comfort/Ease
As a Christian, it is hard to understand why anyone would even want to live as an unsaved
person. It seems so empty and pointless. But we have to remember that that is all they
have ever known. They do not know what it is like to be saved.
Chick track...darkness/light.
Pastor's quote...and then what...and then what...and then you die...AND THEN WHAT
!!Think! - People today are like kids in a candy store. They are gimme, gimme, gimme...
The conversations I hear at work seem to consistently revolve around what people were able
to do...what they were able to buy...where they were able to go... It seems that their
happiness is dictated by what their money can do for them. Many of them sadly believe that this is all that there is so you might as well live it up. Sad.
Are people today more materialistic than people used to be?
Tell - Soul, thou art rich and increased with goods, take thy ease...thou fool, this night
thy soul shall be required of thee
!!Think!!
This past week...fixing tracker rust...Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where
moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for
yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves
do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be
also.
Is it wrong to spend time on temporal things? No! But our focus ought to be more on
heavenly things than on earthly things.
Read Hymn "Turn you eyes upon Jesus"
Did you know that this was written by a blind person?
Sometimes I think that blind people have an advantage over those of us that can see. They
are not so easily distracted by the things of this world that glitter and shine. ...Cheryl
reading the words of the hymn...
strangely dim...NOT invisible
so heavenly minded..no earthly good
My challenge to you is to keep your focus off the worldly attractions and keep them more on
Christ. The things of God are all that will last. We ought to be so in love with Christ
that the things of this world just don't seem to matter any more. If we live with this
constant mindset, we will have such a pity in our hearts for those who do not have this hope
that we will not be able to contain it. It will burn within us with such a heat that we
will have to let it out. Too many of us live with only enough Jesus to make us feel a
little better, but we are unwilling to give up those things that draw us away from him.
The world has yet to see what can be accomplished by one man (or woman) completely dedicated
to God.
