Two Sundays ago I picked up Aunt Candy at the Roanoke Airport and she stayed one night at out house here. Then Monday we drove to Dollywood and stayed for two nights. That was really fun! It is a very nice park with so much to see and do! We want to go again next year.
On Wednesday afternoon we drove to Murfreesboro and stayed on the Ranch until Saturday. We looked at old photos, played Scrabble(Grandpa just watched), and baked pumpkin pies. He took us to a new restaurant that Uncle Tom found for him. It is called the Lovelass Cafe in Nashville, not the city part. www.lovelesscafe.com
It took us about 45 mins of really pretty parkway driving to get there. It is a place many of the famous country stars eat. Tim and Faith often eat there. In fact when Grandpa got there one time very recently with Uncle Tom the waitress said you just missed them. Grandpa didn't know who they were but Uncle Tom said tell Melanie and Candy they'll know. Anyway Grandpa has been there enough now so the waitresses know him and the manager of the restaurant came over to meet us!
Grandpa got teary when we had to leave him on Saturday...thats the hard part. It is amazing how he wants to remember everyones(family and friends) birthdays,anniversaries etc. with sending a card. He is an amazing man. He loves you all and prays for each one of you families EVERYDAY! He still goes to church every Sunday and works for the ranch 1/2 days Monday through Fri. He has had alot done on his eyes lately as the dr said he had cataracs but actually it is scar tissue built up...they are thinking from when he manned a gunner on a boat during WW11.( I guess it spit back sparks.) His eyes are doing better and he can see well enough to drive and he does quite a bit of reading. He had to get new lenses for his glasses after his surgery.
