Cold Weather...

Well the cold weather seems to have killed the battery in our car. I kept charging it and it wouldn't stay charged overnight. I checked the alternator and it was good. I checked for battery drains and there were none. I added some distilled water and no better. So we took it to the parts store today and they analyzed it and said the battery was bad. I can't complain about the service I got from that battery. It was in the car when I bought it six years ago and has always worked great. It was a die-hard and it died hard. I did some research on batteries online and decided to buy one of these.

Optima Batteries have a couple of neat things about them. The plates are rolled up instead of flat, so there is more surface area providing more power and they are gel-filled, so they will not freeze or leak. In fact, the guy at the store told me you could shoot a bullet through it and it would not leak or noticeably affect it's operation! I'm only hoping it will last at least as long as the die-hard.

Too bad you didn't try putting Coke in it before you gave up on it!

I have used coke to clean battery terminals before, but lately I don't have any around, basically for all the reasons mentioned in the article you posted.
