Here is a link to an article about Dan Peek, the lead singer. I remember hearing the other version of this song (" Give you heart to Jesus Christ" lyric) growing up, but never knew until now that it was the same artist.

I remember that song too. Pop must have had it on a record. It's a real catchy tune.
Yep..I remember it very well and every time I hear the "America" version, I remember the other lyrics and thought I must have imagined them because I hadn't heard it that way for so long. This was very interesting. Thanks for posting!
