Maybe a Homemade Christmas Next Year ..?

Hello Everyone! I know it is not even Christmas for 2008 yet, but i have been thinking about all of us maybe making 2009 a homemade Christmas. Luke and Sarah have done an amazing job with their homemade gifts and i just love it. I thought if i want to do this for next year i would already start looking for ideas. So, for example i have decided to do a Harding Family Cookbook next year for everyone. Of course i will probably do something different for the kids in the family:) But i thought if all the ladies (or hubby's to if they have imput) can put together several recipes that their family really likes and can email it to me within the coming weeks or even months since i am starting early that would be great. I figure with homeschooling and just 4 kids in general it will take me a year to get it done:) Also, Melanie if you have some of Grandma Purples favorite recipes i would LOVE to include them as well. That would make it really special!! Hey, even if your kiddos have a favorite include that also. I know Isaiah will add his mean pb&j recipe:) But if everyone could send me as many as they could that would be great...of course the more recipes the better the cookbook. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Please add some imput. I know with Julia and Derak it may be ecspecially hard with both of them working but i just thought it would be cool and bring the real meaning of Christmas back to the holidays. Celebrating Jesus' birth with our family and friends and making our gifts out of love and from our heart. I think it is something my kids will treasure forever!

I think this is a great idea! We will get you some recipes soon. Not that I would submit this one, but Virginia was telling me the the other day that she was frustrated with a recipe that she was working on. She told me she had mixed sawdust, mud and water, but for some reason her mudpies just weren't coming out right.

I've had a lot of fun making homemade gifts this year. Cut and paste the links here to see what I've been working on for the girls.

Hey Dawn this sounds like a wonderful idea I will be thinking of some recipes. sometimes the most simplified gifts are the most meaningful. I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season. I thought i would share an idea we started last year. I wrapped a small box up and wrote "Happy Birthday Jesus" from the Hardings and then all through Dec. we put spare change in the box and then at end of the month we take it to church and put it in the offering it might only be a few dollars but this way the girls know what and who Chirstmas is all about. Well we are having a blizzard here today and are enjoying a day off of school and work!!!(yeah) Christmas pks will be sent out this weekend sorry if there are late being sick for a week set our schedules back a week hope you all have a good day

Thanks for the imput Jenny! I just love your idea about the Happy Birthday Jesus box. I think we will be doing that next year. Wow, a blizzard! We have had rain, rain and more rain but not really any snow yet. Which is fine with me....I'm not much of a snow person;) Don't worry about the package being late, i totally understand. I am just glad you all are finally feeling better. The flu can be rough. Hope you are enjoying the Christmas season (in good health:). Love you all! Dawn
