This family blog continues the one originally started by Luke. It is hoped through the sharing of stories, ponderisms, and pictures of family and events, that this online journal will serve to enhance and nurture our relationship and draw us closer to God and each other as we travel along life's road. Buckle-up!
Looks like a tough project but the new open space seems worth it. In the picture where the ceiling joists are exposed did you cut the ceiling joists or were they already separated like that? And how did you get the beam around that plumbing?
Jacob, Wow! That really looks great. Wish I could have been there to participate in all the fun. Your house seemed big before but now it looks HUGE! Can't wait to come up to see it.
The joists were seperated already. I just had to trim them back 3/4 inch. I wasn't expecting them to be apart like that. My original plan was to let the joists rest on top of the beam. I ended up using both methods, actually, since the joist were joined at the top with a 2x4 scab board which I re-enforced to the main joists with steel plates. The two supply lines I just trimmed back 3 inches and ran at a 45 instead of 90 degree. Fortunatley the drain was just far enough over.
