Wasn't planning on it,even though I work in the health care industry and it is recommended and given out free. I never even gave you kids the infant vitamins pushed on mothers to give their children after birth.Pop and I don't like synthetic vitamins (which they were) and we never wanted you kids or us to drink fluoride or have it in the form of liquid baby vitamins. You kids were pretty much raised on raw goats milk and distilled water and natural vitamins, oh ya and food. So not following the advise of everything the doctors and news says is the right thing is nothing new to us or many people. Home schooling was a very radical thing to do when we made the choice. Very few people had even heard of it and there were good people with good intentions being put in jail for it. I went to a school board trial(?) for a family that was being persecuted in Culpeper County. Now homeschooling is very commonplace.

Sad story...sometimes you just never know why something like that happens. We never understood really why Julia got type 1 diabetes. Doesn't seem fair. She was a very healthy child, took no prescription drugs etc.You kids were so seldom sick I used to say why don't you kids get sick once in awhile because I love to play nurse.(of course I said it kiddingly)None of you kids had ear infections while it seemed like it was the no 1 childhood illness at the time. Many mothers had a bottle of the pink liquid antibiotic for their little ones in the fridge like we had juicy juice. Sometimes you just never know, and then sometimes I know its due to poor diet habits especially when little ones bodies are growing so rapidly. I feel like one of my 100 things is to write a book on the right way to feed, house and raise children well on a single budget.Of course a lot of it had to do with Pop. He always had a limit on how much money he would spend for a home but
we always managed to find one large and nice for way under what our friends were buying. He was so smart with the money angle and he still is! The only thing we ever bought on credit was houses and cars.He would have to help me write the book. I think we would title it Common Cents.

I saw this story on the news the other night. you have to relize that this was an extremely rare case of the milions of flu shots given every year this is the first case that we have heard about. I mean it must be great for those of you who can afford to have a partner stay home with your sick kid. but unfortunatatly most of the population can't. myself included so sean and I will be getting our flu shots because I need a job.
It's a very sad story though. but extremely rare. you have a better chance getting struck by lightning then to have this happen. so I'm gonna take my chances.

Mom, I thought you'd be against the flu vaccines, but I wasn't sure.

I've never had the flu bad enough that I had to stay home from work that I can remember.

Pop and I had the flu together once, it was when we lived in Sumerduck. We had three preschoolers running around who were not sick! Actually I don't think Jacob could walk. Pop and I bedded ourselves on hte living room floor and told you boys to stay in there with us so we could know what you were doing. We could not walk just lay on blankets and moan. A neighbor came over and found us like that and took you boys to their house. Good old Geneva Lundsford, she was a lifesaver. I think we were sick for a couple days. I never had a mother or sister to help close by to help in such situations! we made it through though. we had some good neighbors !
