Grandpa Purple 85 years old (a word from the wise)

Here is a picture taken of us in front of Cracker Barrel Restaurant last month.

Grandpa had a bad fall a few days ago while leading his horse with the reins. He was able to get himself into the house(eventually) and call for help. He went to the hospital and spent the day getting his leg and hip ex-rayed. GOD IS SO GOOD! He only has a bruised muscle He is on crutches and will be for a couple of weeks. You children have an amazing grandfather and he and Grandma have loved you all since the day you were born. Grandpa still prays for each of you and your families by name every day.
He does get very lonely and I hate it that you all don't call him more. Even though we had miles between us when you were growing up[ they never forgot you on your birthdays or Christmas. I guess what I am saying is you should call him more and plan to visit this next year. Jacob I know you and Dawn have traveled to see him and he still talks about it! What would really be great is if Justin,Luke and Jacob could plan on meeting there and spending a couple days with Grandpa just letting him tell you his tales. A time is coming when you will not be able to ask him questions about his past. I think going there as a family would be nice but you wouldn't be able to give him your full attention and he is your only living Grandfather!
I am so glad I always encouraged your Pop to visit his parents regularly. (his grandparents were already dead when I married your Papa. I never wanted your Pop to have any regrets about not spending enough time with his parents. I guess that is what you call real love! His parents were never that attentive to me but I loved them because they were The parent of the man I love with all my heart. They didn't have to be nice to me but I wanted your Pop to remain close with them as someday I knew he wouldn't have them anymore. I honestly believe that is one reason we have such a great marriage is because we have respected and been interested in each other parents.Your Pop even took me to Greenfield Massachusetts for a family reunion! Do you all remember that? Amy was a newborn. It was a 13 hour drive! Every Christmas I would invite Pops family or we would go there to see them. I never wanted to elevate my family above his,that would not be loving him. Believe me if you have any love for your own roots(which I can't imagine any of you not having that feeling) you will have regrets if you don't take advantage of seeing him while he is well.
