Anyone in our family ever had....

swollen lymph nodes? I've got three on the right side of my scalp and one in my neck that have been swollen for about a week. I'd never even heard of lymph nodes before this, but reading online I find that this is a common condition and usually nothing to worry about. They are tiny, but, man, these things hurt. I don't have any other symptoms, like a cold or fever or infection or anything as far as I can tell. Just the swollen lymph nodes.

who diagnosed you? I thought all lymph nodes were in the neck, but where on your scalp? Can you take any over the counter med that gives you relief? I will talk to Aunt Candy about this and get back to you. She has been a registered nurse for 35 years.

Have never had this. I hope it doesn't turn out to be anything serious. I have had swollen glands before (somewhere under your tongue). That's very uncomfortable, but I don't remember it being painful.

I diagnosed myself by reading online. But Sara first told me what it was and it seems like she's right. I think I know what's going on now, though, and they have been much better today. I think I have sunburn blisters on my head which caused the lymphs to swell beneath the blisters. Ouch.

I had a knot on the back of my neck a few weeks ago. I figured out what it was online too. A few days earlier I had pulled a tick off about an inch above it which probobly was the cause because what I read said that only the glands below the point of infection will swell. They do hurt...felt like half a marble trying to pop out.

Did you shave your head? Just wondering because it seems it would be hard to get sunburn on your scalp with hair.

no, but sometimes after standing in the sun a few hours I can smell my hair burning and the top of my head feels like a stove burner.

I think kids cause that...just kidding.
